The Medical Benefits

Cannabis changes peoples’ lives.

Cannabis changes peoples’ lives. One day soon, we will marvel at a world which ignored the benefits of cannabis for so long, and people will regard the past century in much the same way that we think about Flat Earth Theory. We are finally coming to the end of a prohibition regime which brings pain, misery and suffering to millions of people all over the world, every day, by blocking their access to a natural plant with more medical benefits than any other substance in the world. We are needlessly forcing people to break the law in order to provide relief from suffering for themselves and their children.

Scientific research in Australia has recently begun to demonstrate the medical benefits of marijuana, with the New South Wales Government pledging $9 million since 2015 towards medical trials using cannabis to treat epilepsy in children, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in adults, and appetite in adults with advanced cancer who are undergoing palliative care.

By the way, medical marijuana is the same thing as medical cannabis – learn more.

These benefits have been known to practitioners of folk medicine for millennia, whereas contemporary Western medicine has only recently begun to utilise medical marijuana. California became the first state to legalise medical cannabis in 1996, with Canada becoming the first country to adopt a system to regulate its use in 2001. Medical marijuana has been legal in all Australian states since 2017. However, it is extremely difficult to access.
